Hublot Watches

In 1980, Carlo Crocco invented the first watch in history that included a precious metal, gold, and rubber combination. Carlo Crocco also created a porthole silhouette, which was an innovate creation for the watch manufacturer. By May of the same year, the Fusion was released. The Fusion was the first watch to include a precious metal case with a natural rubber strap. The creation of the specialized rubber strap took 3 years to develop. The watch company made an estimated $2 million in its first year of sales due to this innovative strap. In 2007, Jean-Claude Biver was named Best Watch Industry Manager and Best Communicator by watch journalists, and he was ranked fifth among Businessmen of the Year by the Handelszeitung Swiss Economic Weekly.

In 1982, Hublot released the Classic Diver. This watch was inspired from the unique porthole Hublot model, which included the famous rubber strap. In April of 1986, Hublot released their first chronograph watch called the Classic Chronograph.

Hublot launched the Elegant Chronograph in September of 1990. This line of watches included the classic porthole silhouette, but the Elegant collection was more simplistic than the Classic collection with less screws in the bezel.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the watch company, Hublot released the Art Collection in 2000. The Art Collection was designed by Gianfranco Pedersoli, and included numerous features including a unique hunter case with different engravings.

Hublot released the Big Bang chronograph in January of 2005. The Big Bang was awarded the Best Design at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. The Big Bang was so popular that it tripled the company’s sales from the previous year. By 2006, the watch manufacturer released the Big Bang All Black, which was inspired from the success of the original model. Hublot TV was launched in June of 2006 and was the first Internet television channel owned by a luxury brand.

2007 was a productive year for the watch manufacturer. In February of 2007, Hublot opened its first boutique in Paris. The following summer another boutique was opened in the Hotel Byblos, which is located in Saint Tropez. The company released the Big Bang One Million $ in April of 2007. This watch is considered a masterpiece, which includes an invisible gem setting that makes only the diamonds visible. In July of 2007, Hublot manufactured the Big Bang Diver, which featured an oversized 48mm casing. The Mag Bang was launched in October of 2007. This model featured a lightweight alloy that is primarily aluminum and magnesium. The Mag Bang was awarded the Best Technological Innovation at Bahrein’s 2007 Middle East Watches, Jewelry & Pens Convention.

In 2008, Hublot launched the first Mag Bang exclusively for women. Although this model did not include a chronograph, it had a diameter of 38mm and included a bezel that was reinforced with diamonds. The same year Carlo Crocco sold his company to the French Group LVBMH a well-known manufacturer of luxury items. Today, the Hublot brand is associated with many sports such as polo, golf, and tennis.
